German technical service provider Media Broadcast will distribute the TV signals of Germany’s domestic football league Bundesliga in HD quality from the stadiums to public broadcaster ARD for its flagship sports programme Sportschau in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.
The contract with WDR, the ARD affiliate responsible for the Bundesliga coverage, has been extended, Media Broadcast announced at cable, satellite and broadband fair ANGA COM 2015 in Cologne.
Media Broadcast will provide IP-based connections through its nationwide fibre-optic network Broadcast NGN from all stadiums of the first-division Bundesliga and SNG transmissions from the second-division Bundesliga’s stadiums.
The company will have handled TV contribution of a total of around 500 matches by the end of the 2016/17 season. Media Broadcast has already been transmitting the Bundesliga signals to ARD in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons.
