Irdeto has named Doug Lowther as its new CEO following Graham Kill’s resignation in September 2014 to pursue new opportunities based out of his native UK.
Lowther joins Irdeto from International Datacasting Corporation (IDC), where he currently serves as CEO. Prior to IDC, Lowther was EVP of Irdeto’s Digital TV business and had been with the company for over nine years. He will be based in the Irdeto Hoofddorp office in his role as CEO.
“It is an honor for me to return to Irdeto at a time when the company holds a strong market position and is exploring many exciting areas of expansion,” said Doug Lowther.
“Irdeto has been a highly innovative company for many years, and it has been inspiring to see that tradition continued with new offerings such as Keys and Credentials. I thank Graham for his leadership and mentorship over the years. I look forward to continuing Irdeto’s proud tradition of enabling operators and content owners to grow revenues through innovative solutions that deliver the world’s best content to any screen.”
“Doug Lowther is an accomplished and respected executive in the Digital TV industry, and one that Irdeto’s employees, customers and partners know well and trust,” said Graham Kill.
“With security at its core, Irdeto’s long-lasting and trusted relationships with customers and partners will further develop leveraging Doug’s previous experience. I am confident that under his leadership, Irdeto will continue its strong growth trajectory. Irdeto has been an exciting personal and shared journey. Together with the wonderful people on the team, we increased revenue ten-fold through product and international expansion through all the economic cycles during that time. I am pleased Naspers chose Doug to take Irdeto to new heights.”
Additionally, Irdeto recently appointed Andrew Bunten as CFO effective February 1, 2015. Prior to joining Irdeto, Andy was the CFO for Hewlett-Packard’s cloud business.
