The BBC iPlayer has launched on the Xbox One console following a period of development between the BBC and Microsoft.
The now standard HTML5-based application has been modified to provide the same experience for Xbox One users as all other users of this new version of BBC iPlayer. It’s already being used on smart TVs, YouView, streamers such as Now TV.
Xbox One is using the new voice and gesture support, first seen on the Xbox 360 and Kinect, but now a part of the standard product.
The BBC is now working on improvements for Xbox 360, particularly the addition of the new Radio One online channel and Welsh language broadcaster S4C. However, Xbox 360 doesn’t work on the BBC’s standard platform.
It’s planned this version will appear in the New Year.
