The winners of the 2014 Eutelsat TV Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony in Rome on November 28.
This week, in the fifth of a series of articles leading up to the ceremony, we look at the nominees in the Culture and Documentary category.
Culture and Documentary channels are a critical platform for programming that is often chased off mainstream television or confined to obscure scheduling. In today’s world of fast video consumption they represent a category of channel in which viewers immerse themselves and invest their time to watch a programme on a subject which may be familiar or totally new.
The three channels shortlisted by the jury in the Culture and Documentaries category in this year’s Eutelsat TV Awards are powerful examples of how channels can excel at exposing a social issue, a work of art or a natural phenomenon. They are RAI 5, RAI Storia and Spiegel TV Wissen.
