The Polish national commercial broadcaster TVN plans to add two more thematic channels to its portfolio.
According to Wirtualne Media, it has applied to the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) for licences for the channels, to be named TVN Fabula and TVN Sportive, amid speculation that they will be distributed via DTT.
The move has raised eyebrows in the industry, with particular surprise reserved for TVN Sportive, given that the broadcaster has until now not concerned itself directly with sport.
Canal+ and ITI Group are currently considering selling their majority (51%) stake in TVN, with Time Warner, Discovery Communications and RTL all mentioned as possible buyers.
