SBS Broadcasting in the Netherlands will be launching its fourth channel, SBS9, on January 1, 2015.
The new chnanel will be a female-skewed channel next to SBS6, Net5 and Veronica, as reported earlier in Broadband TV News.
SBS9 will be part of the basic digital tiers of all main Dutch distribution platforms.
The news comes after the announcement by RTL Nederland that it will turn its daytime business news programme RTL Z into a 24/7 digiytal ndews channel as well as into a digital news platform.
Meanwhile, Doscovery Communications is said to be interested in acquiring the Dutch assets of SBS Broadcasting, which are currently owned by Sanomna (2/3) and John de Mol’s Talpa (1.3).
