Although the take-up of paid DTT services in Belarus remains disappointing, the country may complete its transition to digital broadcasting earlier than previously expected.
Quoting figures produced by the Ministry of Communications and Informatisation, Obob.tv reports that the paid-DTT subscriber total currently stands at 28,000, or 3,000 more than a year earlier.
It adds that the second and third multiplexes in Belarus are operated by the Belarusian Broadcasting Centre (RRT) and Beltelecom and provide paid services.
The country has had a clear plan for analogue switch off since August 1 last year.
Although digital switchover was due to be completed in July 2015, it may now take place two months earlier.
However, sales of DTT receivers are still low, with the main manufacturer being Minsk-based Horizon.
