Germany’s national telco Deutsche Telekom will restructure the music package of its domestic IPTV platform Entertain, a Telekom spokesman confirmed to Broadband TV News.
“There will be changes in the music bouquet, but it’s too early for details,” he said, affirming that more information would be given as soon as it became available.
The reshuffling of the music line-up is prompted by the recently announced decision by Viacom International Media Networks Northern Europe to remove MTV HD from pay-TV platform Sky Deutschland in favour of Astra’s DTH platform HD+. The move, notably, marks MTV HD’s exit from the classic pay-TV market.
At Entertain, MTV is currently part of the music pay-tv package available to customers for an additional fee of €4.94 per month. The bouquet also comprises MTV Brand New, MTV Dance, MTV Hits, MTV Rocks, VH-1, VH-1 Classic, Trace TV, Classica and RCK TV. Subscribers signing up for the HD option receive MTV, Classica and RCK TV in high-definition.
