German financial news and documentary channel DAF has commenced offering its video-on-demand (VOD) service as an OTT app for smart TV sets connected to the internet.
Viewers are able to access more than 50,000 videos covering various topics free of charge with their remote control.
“DAF has always been a broadcaster focusing on innovative concepts. For years we’ve been putting much energy into the establishment of our VOD service and the extension of the content. Following the apps for the most popular mobile operating systems, a smart TV app making all of this accumulated knowledge available on TV sets is only the logical consequence,” said DAF CEO Conrad Heberling.
From autumn 2014, the DAF app will also be offered on Amazon’s new set-top-box Fire TV.
