There are now 200,000 Hbb-enabled smart TVs in Hungary, with nearly 10% having already used them to receive HbbTV services.
Furthermore, according to the national transmission company Antenna Hungária, about one-third of flat screen TVs currently available in the country are able to HbbTV services.
Antenna Hungária began a free HbbTV test on the MinDig TV Extra pay-DTT platform in October 2013.
It says that interest in HbbTV apps has grown significantly in Hungary in the last month thanks to the World Cup, with match coverage being made accessible to viewers through the public broadcaster MTVA’s HbbTV portal Médiaklikk.
The latter was launched in May and is receiving technical support from Antenna Hungária.
