The Czech national transmission company Ceske Radiokomunikace (CRa) has warned against the restriction of terrestrial TV broadcasting in the country.
In a statement, it says that moves by the Czech Telecom Office (CTU) to limit the frequency spectrum are incomprehensible and contrary to the majority of Czech households, as well as market logic.
As 61.7% of households – 2.7 million, according to the latest data produced by MEDIARESEARCH – watch terrestrial TV and its popularity is continuing to grow, the future limitation of spectrum is incomprehensible and contrary to trends.
The CRa adds that it rejects a document on spectrum management strategy produced by the CTU and also draws attention to the urgent need to move to DVB-T2.
