Freeview has confirmed that it is considering a connected catch-up TV service with its partners.
However, Ilse Howling, the company’s MD, was unable at this stage to provide any further details.
Speaking about Freeview in general, Howling said that it is at the heart of broadcasting in the UK and the universal provider of subscription-free TV.
Nearly 20 million homes have and watch the service and 40% of homes have just Freeview.
The Freeview brand is strong and 95% of the most watched programmes in the UK are available to watch for free on the service.
Howling also said that Freeview had already added six more HD channels to its offer this year, bringing the total to 10.
There have also been 10 million sales of Freeview HD equipment to date.
