The recently launched Freesat mobile companion app was downloaded over 130,000 times in the first two weeks, according to Emma Scott, the company’s MD.
She also said that Freesat would be the first connected platform in the UK to launch on IDTV, with an announcement due to be made shortly.
Scott added that Freesat is already received in 1.8 million and has 3.6 million viewers daily.
The service can be watched on 250 different types of devices and to date 3.3 million units had been sold. In terms of demographics, the service is most popular in London and the South East of England.
Scott also said that DTH signals cover 98% of the UK and over 60% of UK homes have a dish. Although the majority of Freesat homes come from Sky, it also attracts viewers from other companies including Virgin Media.
