Lagardère is to launch 30 channels on YouTube based on versions of Virgin Radio.
Furthermore, reports Le Figaro, it plans to launch a channel named Virgin Radio TV on Free’s ADSL network on March 20.
Virgin Radio TV will mirror Virgin Radio and be distributed by other operators from this summer.
Virgin tried unsuccessfully to secure a place on France’s DTT service TNT in 2005 and Lagardère subsequently went on to sell Virgin 17 to Bolloré for €70 million in 2010.
Bolloré then sold it to Canal+, which currently operates the channel.
Lagardère’s YouTube Virgin venture will be undertaken in partnership with Melty.
Lagardère’s future plans include placing five versions of the youth-based DTT channel Gulli on YouTube this April.
