Alternative telcos are gaining at the expense of Telefónica in the provision of DSL broadband internet services in Spain.
At the same time, the number of cable internet homes remains relatively static.
Data produced by the regulator CNMC shows that as of November 2013 there were 12,182,000 broadband internet homes in the country.
Of these, 5,147,000 were served by Telefónica, down from 5,246,000 a year earlier, and 4,430,000 (3,909,000) by alternative telcos.
The number of cable internet homes stood at 2,029,000, compared to 2,057,000 a year earlier.
The FTTH home total meanwhile almost doubled in the year to November 2013, up from 310,000 to 577,000.
All told, Telefónica claimed a 46.90% share of the broadband internet market, cable operators 17.55% and other companies 35.55% as of November 2013.
