The Russian DTH platform Tricolor TV ended 2013 with 14.1 million subscribers, or 18.4% more than a year earlier.
Its revenues in 2013 meanwhile rose by 28% to R8.1 billion (€170.8 million) and ARPU by 10.8% to R805.
Basic and additional services accounted for 85.8% and 14.2% of revenues respectively, compared to 88% and 12% respectively a year earlier, with additional services benefiting from the launch of a number of new HD channels and a proprietary film channel package.
Tricolor TV also continued to set the pace in the take-up of HD services, ending the year with an offer that included 26 channels in the format and 3.1 million subscribers owning HD reception equipment.
Tricolor TV’s growth was also driven by a second multiplex operated by the company that included 18 Russian channels in improved broadcast quality.
Close to three quarters (71.6%, or 10 million) of its subscriber base was made up of paying customers as of the end of 2013.
Commenting on its plans for this year, the company says they include the introduction of thematic a la carte packages, launch of a special mobile app, development of its HD offer and Tricolor Sibir TV.
It is also considering launching a new DTH service employing the new ABS-2 satellite.
