Amazon.com denied suggestions that it is planning a new live TV service, following a report in the Wall Street Journal.
According to the report Amazon approached at least three big media conglomerates seeking rights to distribute their TV channels online as a OTT service in competition to cable, DTH and IPTV operators.
Amazon is already active in the video content space. Its Prime Instant Video service offers a range of on-demand content, and the new service would in addition feature live channels.
A spokesperson for Amazon said the company did not have plans to license TV channels or offer a pay-TV service, but the company continues to work on expanding the selection on Prime, including commissioning its own content.
