Sky Deutschland has secured the rights to the UEFA Champions League in Austria for three years from the 2015/16 season.
The new agreement means Sky will be the only TV channel in Austria holding the rights to all the Champions League matches in HD through until 2018.
A similar rights package has already been secured for the German market.
Carsten Schmidt, chief officer sport, advertising sales & internet at Sky Deutschland: “With the new agreement we confirm our position as clear number one in Austrian TV football. As the official TV partner in Austria we are glad to be able to offer the matches of all international stars as well as crowd pleasers such as David Alaba in the future. Our viewers can look forward to broadcasts in outstanding quality – not only on their TV sets at home, but also on the road on their iPad, iPhone, iPod touch as well as on the internet and the Xbox 360.’
The new agreement will bring a total of 146 matches, including the UEFA Super Cup, 128 exclusive to Sky.
