Data published by the Romanian regulator ANCOM indicates that total revenues in the provision of electronic communications services in the country in 2012 amounted to RON14.83 billion (approximately €3.3 billion), or 0.2% more than a year earlier.
Revenues from the retail sector, up 1.8% on 20111, accounted for 76% of the total. Of the latter, equivalent to RON11.25 billion, internet access services claimed RON2.16 billion and audiovisual services RON1.58 billion.
Other data published by ANCOM shows that there were a total of 6.03 million subscribers to audiovisual services in Romania at the end of 2012, or 5% more than a year earlier.
Of these, 3.80 million opted for cable (+6.4%), 2.19 million DTH (+2.3%) and 37,000 IPTV (+33.9%).
