Tvigle has become the first Russian online video provider to launch an app for Sony PlayStation.
The app gives Russian PS3 owners access to Tvigle’s library of more than 20,000 licenced films and TV programming. It will also be made available on PS4, due to launch later this year.
Tvigle already has an app on all smart TVs sold by major manufacturers in Russia and in September it generated more than a million views on Sony smart TVs alone.
Tvigle was established in 2007 and is Russia’s biggest provider of legal Internet video content.
It operates a VOD platform named tvigle.ru that as of this spring had a unique monthly audience of over 10 million.
Russia as a whole is estimated to have 60 million online viewers each month in 2013, making it one of the world’s most important video markets.
