Sky is rolling out a new software update that enhances the search information returned on its Sky+ HD box.
The new facility allows subscribers to search by title, actor, event, channel, sport or keyword. It takes advantage of the receiver’s internet connectivity, collating results that are based on real-time searches. It means that customers will find both recent and trending suggestions at the top of their searches.
Similar functionality is already available on the Sky+ app.
Suggestions are automatically generated as the customer types with the aim of getting the correct suggestion within typing 3 characters, 70% of the time.
Customers need only search for the first part of the title, an acronym, sport, event or who was in it. For example Spurs will return games for Tottenham Hotspur, while searching for Tom Cruise will generate movies that he stars in that are on Sky Movies and other channels.
Luke Bradley-Jones, Brand Director, TV Products, comments: “With our enhanced Search we are making it even easier to find shows and movies you love, as well as discovering exciting new titles in an intuitive and faster way. Our new Search means you can find just what you want even if you only know the actor’s name.’
Those customers who have not connected their receiver to the internet will continue to be offered the basic search.
