Pay-DTT is already well established in Hungary ahead of the country’s digital switchover, with the MinDig TV Extra service claiming 112,478 subscribers at the end of August.
Data produced by the regulator NMHH also shows that the total number of digital cable and IPTV subscriptions, based on data provided by the leading market players, stood at 953,585 at the end of August, while the DTH/MMDS figure was 927,253.
All in all, there were just under 2 million (1,993,316) digital TV subscriptions in a total TV subscription market estimated to be 3,367,000.
UPC was the leading provider of subscription TV services irrespective of technology, with a market share of 26.3%.
It was followed by T-Home (23.5%), Digi (22.9%), Invitel (3.6%), Tarr (2.9%) and PR Telekom (2.5%), with MinDig TV Extra claiming 2.2%.
