A bespoke version of the National Geographic Channel is being launched today in Finland by Fox International Channels.
The fully localised version will feature local promotional material and local advertising.
Fox says National Geographic Channel Finland will strengthen the local pay-TV offering as well as provide Finnish advertisers with a new way to reach much-coveted male viewers.
NGC Finland is the latest initiative in FIC’s on-going effort to expand and grow its Nordic business. It follows closely on the heels of the recent launches of FOX channels in Norway and in Finland where the company’s flagship brand has broadcast free-to-air since 2012.
“At FIC we are experts in tailoring our channels to local audiences. The launch of National Geographic Channel Finland completes the process of localising National Geographic Channel in the Nordics and is a clear demonstration of our commitment to pay-TV in Finland. We believe Finland offers real opportunity for the development of Pay-TV and we want to do everything we can to build the market and our portfolio of channels in Finland”, says Ase Ytreland, Managing Director of Fox International Channels Nordic.
“We are extremely pleased to offer a fully localised National Geographic Channel to Finnish viewers. National Geographic’s productions have been a mainstay of our free-to-air FOX channel since we launched in 2012, and the response has been tremendous. The launch of NGC Finland is the logical next step to bring the National Geographic Channel and its amazing content closer to Finnish viewers and we’re very happy to have made it a reality with the help of our partners in the Finnish Pay-TV industry”, says Whit Higgins, General Manager, FIC Finland.
Upcoming programming includes the successful series Brain Games, Vinnie Jones: Russia’s Toughest featuring former footballer and film star Vinnie Jones and the landmark series Cosmo: A Spacetime Odessy.
In Finland, National Geographic Channel is carried on most major platforms including Elisa, DNA/Welho, SHEF, Telia Sonera and Anvia.
