Belgian telecom regulator BIPT has issued a fine to Telenet Tecteo BidCo for failing to launch a 3G service on January 15, 2013.
Telenet Tecteo Bidco is a joint venture set up by the cable operators Telenet (74.99%) and Tecteo (25.01%) to acquire spectrum rights for launching a mobile phone service. The company has six months to rectify the situation.
The regulator issued the maximum fine possible for a company without revenues, EUR5,000. Should Telenet Tecteo BidCo not comply within six month’s time, BIPT can double the fine and withdraw the licence.
