The leading Czech broadcaster TV Nova has restated its interest in DVB-T2 technology and its use to distribute HD channels.
Quoted by Digizone, TV Nova’s CEO Jan Andrusko said that in the future he would like to see the CME-owned station distribute exclusive pay-TV channels, its on demand platform Voyo and other services using DVB-T2.
Significantly, the national transmission company Ceske Radiokomunikace (CRa) is currently undertaking a DVB-T2 trial that will soon include pay-TV.
Andrusko nevertheless made the point that there is still a lack of native HD content, the result of which HD broadcasts are still some way off.
A HD version of TV Nova is carried on the fourth DTT multiplex but there is little room for HD services distributed via DVB-T in the Czech Republic.
