The Croatian Agency for Electronic Media (AEM) has announced the winners of concessions to provide TV services on two of the country’s DTT multiplexes.
At the same time, it has annulled a tender for a third multiplex.
According to the regulator, it received only one offer for Multiplex A and the bidder RTL Hrvatska was deemed suitable for a licence to provider TV services for a period of 15 years.
RTL Hrvatska was also successful in securing a 15-year licence to operate a kids channel named RTL Kockica on Multiplex D, beating off a rival bid from Nova TV/Nova Pro.
At the same time, Varazdinska TV was the sole bidder and winner of a licence for the Digital region D3.
The AEM received four bids for Multiplex B – from Nova TV, Antenna Televizija, Nazavisna televizija and Televizija Pet – but decided to cancel the tender on the grounds that in its view that none would contribute significantly to the pluralism of media in Croatia.
Companies will have to take this more into account when submitting bids when a new tender is held for Multiplex B.
