A new “anti-piracy” law that comes into effect in Russia on August 1 is widely supported by the industry.
According to AKTR and Tass Telekom, Roskomnadzor, rights holders, major internet platforms and telcos have signed a communiqué that reflects the cooperation of all parties in formulating the law.
The “anti-piracy” law is designed to protect the rights of film, video and TV producers whose content is distributed on the internet.
Roskomnadzor, the Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and mass Communications, will oversee its implementation.
