The Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) has set up a special commission to determine the cause of the failure of the Proton Glonass mission on July 2.
Following its findings, International Launch Services (ILS) will conduct its own Failure Review Oversight Board (FROB) to review the commission’s findings and corrective action plan, in accordance with US and Russian government export control regulations.
The launch of the Proton M/Block DM-03 mission with three Glosnass navigational satellites for the Russian Federal Government took place from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 8.38am local time.
However, about 10 seconds after lift-off the rocket veered off its flight path and returned to earth.
