David Scott, the former Channel 4 executive who took the UK into an era of digital broadcasting, has received a knighthood in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
“I am honoured to receive this recognition. It has been a real privilege to lead the wonderful team at Digital UK and I am delighted that we were successful in our aim of ensuring everyone can access the benefits of digital television,” said Sir David. “Delivering switchover required the collaboration of many individuals and organisations all of whom deserve to share in the credit.”
Before becoming chief executive in 2008, Sir David represented Channel 4 on the board of Digital UK. He worked at Channel 4 for more than 25 years and held the roles of director of finance, managing director, deputy chief executive and acting chief executive.
In 2006, Sir David was awarded a CBE for services to broadcasting.
