The Czech national transmission company CRa is to start trialing pay-DTT and HbbTV this autumn.
The news was given Marcel Prochazka, the company’s head of business development and strategy, speaking at the Digimedia conference and quoted by E15.
Prochazka said that pay-DTT had great potential, as had already been seen in neighbouring Hungary.
There, the MinDig TV Extra platform operated by Antenna Hungária already has over 100,000 subscribers.
Prochazka also referred to neighbouring Slovakia, which launched its own pay-DTT service, named Plustelka, this May.
Although he did not specify which channels would take part in the trail, they may include Nova Sport, as it is the only Nova service not available for free and is not distributed terrestrially.
As previously reported in Broadband TV News, the CRa believes that pay-DTT services are likely to prove a success in the Czech Republic.
