NBCUniversal takes PictureBox direct to consumer

NBCUniversal is to offer its PictureBox video on demand service direct to consumers in the UK and Ireland, following a rebrand and redesign of its website.

The new look service will offer 60 films at any one time, curated by NBCUniversal’s in-house team.

PictureBox will be available across Samsung Smart TV or mobile devices such as iPads, iPhones and Android phones.

Available titles include The Eagle, The American, Bridget Jones’ Diary, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Jarhead and The Bourne Identity.

PictureBox, which initially launched in 2006 as a digital TV SVOD service, is also available in the UK through third parties Virgin Media, TalkTalk, BT Vision and Top Up TV; and in Poland, Russia, Latin America, Brazil and Singapore via local platform providers.
