The leading leading cable operator Volia has called for less regulation and state influence on the country’s media.
Speaking at a conference at Alushta, the company’s president Sergey Boyko said that the less the industry is regulated, the more rapidly it will develop.
In addition, activities rather than technology should be subject to regulation. Other key points at the conference included general support for the new broadcasting law.
The conference also saw representatives of the Telecommunications Chamber of Ukraine and Association of Rights Holders create a new body known as the Industrial Law Committee (SOI) that will protect the rights of the pay-TV market.
Separately, Volia has signed a multi-year carriage agreement with Fashion One, the international channel for fashion, entertainment and lifestyle television. The channel is now available on all Volia’s packages, in HD and SD, as well on the operator’s OTT platform Volia Smart HD.
