The name may have been changed, but ANGA COM 2013 is very much the show we left in Cologne 12 months ago.
Opening the three-day event, Thomas Braun, President of ANGA (the German association of cable operators) related the new name to the two pillars of media and communications.
“453 exhibitors from 36 countries, which means a new record. It’s not the same 453 exhibitors as last year, new exhibitors join us, former exhibitors leave us,” said Braun, adding that half of the exhibitors were international.
“60 per cent of broadband customers are asking for 30 Mbps or more, underling that the strategy of investment is working. 1.5 million subscribers are asking for high definition and that is much more than satellite, so we are the driver of progress.
ANGA has gained 30% more members over the past two years, which Braun said was a benefit to the organisation, and its ability to lobby.
