Euronews will launch its 24/7 Hungarian news service this Thursday, May 30.
It will be available immediately through major European and Hungarian TV networks, as well as on the Euronews Live app and on YouTube via the official Hungarian Euronews channel.
The service will be the 13th linguistic one operated by Euronews and the second, after the Greek service, launched in December 2012, adapted locally and broadcast locally from Euronews’ HQ in Lyon.
The wholly owned Hungarian subsidiary of Euronews Hungary Kft, based in Budapest, will shortly host the Hungarian editorial team.
Commenting on the launch, Michael Peters, CEO of Euronews, said:
“We are on the threshold of an exciting new era for Euronews. The launch of a new channel is always a unique event, whether seen from an internal, editorial or commercial angle. Strengthening the Euronews network with a new editorial team gives the channel a competitive advantage which will boost its success, particularly here in Central Europe. We are very happy to offer the Hungarian public an exceptional window on international news events as well as our renowned expertise on European affairs.
“We have recruited more than 30 media professionals who will be based in Budapest, Lyon, and Brussels, under the management of Attila Kert, a highly experienced journalist. The new team and their knowledge of current affairs will also allow us to improve our coverage of news from Hungary, across all sectors, and broadcast throughout Europe and the rest of the world.”
