Norwegian operator GET has launched its new GET Box II, initially for customers on the IP part of its network, the set-top will be made available to cable homes in the summer.
Taking the lead from the initial GET Box, the interface remains the same, but with double the storage, multiple TV tuners and a more powerful processor.
It is believed to be the Media Gateway product from Pace, first announced in September 2011, and featuring Cisco/NDS middleware.
“GET changed people’s television habits when we launched our first GET box in 2007 with recording functionality, and few today can imagine a television today without being able to pause, rewind or record programmes and series. Now customers want easy access to TV, streaming services and personallation, both at home and when on the move. Today’s launch of GET Box II is an important step to provide this the Get way,” says managing director of Get, Gunnar Evensen.
The GET Box II also has a built-in modem, telephony, and two wireless home networks. The device provides Wi-Fi throughout the home allowing connection by the GET Micro Box, tablets and smartphones.
