The Russian national telco Rostelecom ended the first quarter with 6.8 million subscribers to its pay-TV services, or 13% more than a year earlier.
Of these, the number opting for interactive TV nearly doubled over the period to 1.6 million.
Rostelecom also had 9.6 million broadband subscribers (+12% year-on-year) at the end of the quarter, while the number connected via its fibre-optic network increased 1.7 times year-on-year to 3.1 million, or 33% of the total subscriber base.
Although Rostelecom’s revenues in Q1 were, at R77,067 million (€1, 911 million), 10% down on a year earlier, those for its pay-TV services rose by an impressive 35% to R2,772 million.
The company’s net income in Q1 amounted to R6.4 billion.
