The Bulgarian Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) has awarded a licence for what will be the country’s seventh DTT multiplex to Bulsatcom.
Bulsatcom is one of the leading provider of TV channels in Bulgaria and beat off competition from Di Vi Bi Ti and Dynamiks in the process.
Licences for the first six multiplexes have already been granted in controversial circumstances to Hannu Pro and Towercom and earlier this year the European Commission referred Bulgaria to the EU’s Court of Justice over the matter.
The latest licence award is seen by some as an attempt by Bulgaria to ward off criticism from the Commission.
Bulgaria expects to complete the transition to digital broadcasting in September this year.
