France Telecom’s Orange TV service is now available to over 6 million households, ten years after its debut as MaLigne TV.
As of March 31, 2013, 6,043,000 customers received the service over IPTV or satellite, principally in France and Poland. Satellite was added as a gapfill to the original ADSL/IPTV service in 2008.
The number of customers in France grew by 14% year on year to 5,208,000 customers.
In Poland subscriber numbers increased from 663,000 to 699,000.
The combination of TV and broadband has been an attractive one for Orange customers, but the combination of regulatory measures and continued pressure on fixed line services saw a 4.1% decrease in Group revenues for the first quarter to €10.280 billion.
