Dutch telco KPN has said its TV market share increased to 24%, leading to number two position in Dutch TV market during the first quarter of the year.
KPN now has 1.8 million TV customers of its two digital TV products, the IPTV service KPN Interactieve TV and the digital terrestrial platform Digitenne. The operator has now moved into the #2 position, surpassing UPC Nederland.
Ziggo remains the number one digital TV provider with 2,260,000 connected digital TV homes.
The number of DTT customers continues to decline, from 754,000 at December 31, 2012 down to 717,000 on March 31, 2013, but the IPTV customer base is up to 1,128,000 from 1,012,000.
Compared with the figures from a year ago, KPN’s Digitenne had 801,000 subs on March 31, 2012 and 625,000 IPTV homes connected.
KPN’s triple play products now start at EUR65 a month, and a quad play offer (including mobile) now starts at EUR95.
The operator has now also launched its 4G services in the Western part of the country, covering 30% of the population, including the cities of Amsterdam and The Hague.
“We see the success of our strategy in The Netherlands in the continuing momentum in TV and broadband, and the launch of 4G services as first mover,” said CEO Eelco Blok in a statement.
