Lovefilm is to show 14 new shows being piloted by Amazon Studios. Six of the shows are comedies while a further six are aimed at children.
The Amazon Originals are being offered free of charge with viewers invited to comment on the individual episodes ahead of a possible commissioning of a full series.
“For the past year, the Amazon Studios team has collaborated with some of the best actors and writers in Hollywood to produce top-quality shows,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder and CEO. “We can’t wait to hear which shows customers will want to see in full series production later this year.”
Amazon has been able to tempt popular US comedy actors John Goodman and Jeffrey Tambor to feature in the pilots that have been written by the writers of Zombieland and The Onion News Network as well as writers new to the process.
Tambor, best known for his role in Arrested Development, appears in Onion News Empire, while Goodman, who recently appeared in Treme, stars in Alpha House (pictured), about US senators who live together in a rented house in Washington DC.
