MIPTV 2013 – Cannes. Lyons-based news channel Euronews has upgraded its YouTube channels and is launching a new original channel called Euronews Knowledge.
Euronews’ channels will offer a new subject hierarchy, a broader choice of playlists, a deeper theme-based search capability, and optimum responsiveness to world news (in 12, and soon 13, languages). The video formats produced by Euronews will also be optimised for simpler, higher-quality viewing.
The Euronews team is also working on a series of further projects: a daily pick of the highest-profile stories; invitations to subscribers to join in regular happenings via Google+ Hangouts; plus live operations and links with broadcast output.
YouTube pioneer Michael Stevens, founder of hit channel Vsauce will be the launch partner of the new Euronews Knowledge original YouTube channel, which will focus on science and space.
The new channel will also feature special events and the first one will be live coverage of the Vega launch from Kourou in French Guyana, which will be carried on both the new channel as well as Stevens’ own channel that has around three million subscribers.
Euronews first started on YouTube in 2007 and now has 13 channels, which will be expended to a total of at least 19,
