Former News Corp president Peter Chernin has reportedly made a $500 million bid for Hulu.
The US online TV portal is currently owned by News Corp, Walt Disney and Comcat. If successful it would return Chernin to the company he helped establish in 2007 when he sat on the website’s board.
There have been on-going discussions about the possibility of a Hulu sales, but also differences in opinion, which resulted in the departure of CEO Jason Kilar earlier this year.
Last year Providence Equity Partners invested $200 million in The Chernin Group, former after Chernin left News Corp in 2009. The private equity group then sold its own stake in Hulu.
