Long time Open TV and Nagra staffer Matthew Huntington has been named as the new chief technology officer at Freesat.
Huntington will be responsible for the free-to-air platform’s technology roadmap following the recent launch of the Freetime EPG and platform. His role will be to set future specifications, choosing technology suppliers and manufacturers, and deliver the new Freetime on demand features.
He will work alongside director of product development Dan Chronnell, who is responsible for the delivery of the product roadmap, and report to managing director Emma Scott.
Launched in September 2012, Freetime draws on specifications from OIPF, HbbTV and HTML5.
“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome Matthew to Freesat and really look forward to working with him. His ability and enthusiasm were clearly apparent throughout the recruitment process. He will be instrumental in shaping and driving the evolution of Freesat’s service and I know he will be an asset to the team,” commented Scott.
Huntingdon, who spent 18 years at Nagra TV and before it OpenTV will start work on May 1.
