PRAGUE BUSINESS BREAKFAST – Skylink and CS Link currently have a combined total of around 2.1 million active smart cards in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, according to Jaromir Glisnik, president M77.
He added that the platforms gained 80,000 subscribers, of who 28,000 were for HD services, in Q4 2012.
As of December 2012, 100,000 of the company’s pay-TV subscribers took HD services and there were a total of 30 HD channels on offer in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Commenting on the DTH sector in the Czech Republic in general, Glisnik said that there was need for some consolidation, bearing in mind that the market was not as big as Poland, for instance.
The Czech Republic is currently served by the DTH platforms Skylink, CS Link, freeSAT, Digi and T-Mobile.
