Poland’s Ministry of Administration and Digitisation has conceded that the country faces one of the most difficult moments to date in its transition to digital broadcasting.
March 19 will mark the third stage in the process and cover 5.7 million people in 346 locations throughout the country, and once completed will see over 10 million people being able to receive DTT services.
It adds that PLN31 million (€7.49 million) has been allocated by the ministry this year to fill any gaps in and reinforce the strength of digital TV signals.
Were it not for this, 650,000 people would find themselves without a signal. The funds will also be used to help launch the third multiplex, which has been allocated solely to the public broadcaster TVP.
