The Russian telco Rostelecom now has 1.5 million subscribers to its ‘Interactive TV’ service.
This indicates that the customer base of the service, which is available nationally, more than doubled (102%) in 2012.
Commenting on the growth, Andrei Cholodny, the company’s executive director/directorv of media assets, said: “we are pleased that the number of Interactive TV customers is growing rapidly. Indeed, the uniqueness of our product is that we are giving up to 190 channels and implementing technological solutions that offer users maximum freedom of choice.”
He pointed out that Interactive TV subscribers could also watch most of the channels it offers online on the portal zabava.ru free of charge.
Cholodny also said that the number of HD channels offered by Interactive TV had been increased to 19 and the service now included the unique four-channel package Viasat Premium HD.
