The Czech regional station TV Metropol has been acquired by the publishing group Mladá fronta for an undisclosed fee.
Mladá fronta has already begun producing programmes for the station, which focuses on news, current affairs and documentaries.
A company named Metropol formerly operated TV Metropol, which covers the whole of Prague and 65% of central Czech Republic.
Its interests also included Petka, a short-lived national TV station that was launched last autumn and went off the air this February.
Lubos Mekota, who owned Metropol until last year, was reported to have died suddenly of a heart attack last Saturday (March 9).
