Polish boost for Universal

Universal Channel HD has made its debut in Poland on Cyfrowy Polsat, the country’s leading DTH platform.

It becomes the fourth Universal Networks International channel carried by the platform after Universal Channel, E! Entertainment Television and Scifi Universal and will be viewable through an ‘open window’ in the additional Film HD package, which also carries Scifi Universal.

With its debut, Cyfrowy Polsat now offers its subscribers a total of 36 HD channels. Commenting on Universal Channel HD, Cyfrowy Polsat president Dominik Libicki said: “We are building (our) TV offer very carefully. Our aim is to provide checked channels of high quality. Universal Networks International’s offer is 100% in line with our policy. I’m happy that Cyfrowy Polsat will now have access to their favourite productions from Universal Channel in HD”.

Tariq Syed, Universal Network International’s MD for Central Europe, added: “We are pleased that Universal Channel HD will appear on Cyfrowy Polsat and that the platform’s subscribers will for the first time in Poland be able to watch our new comedy block Niedzielna smiechoterapia, including Guys with kids and Whitney, along with such hit movies as The Diary of Bridget Jones.”
