The six new French terrestrial HD channels will expand their coverage on March 26, when they will launch in the Pays de la Loire and in Bretagne.
The six new HD channels, HD1, 6-ter, Numéro 23, L’Equipe 21, Chérie 25, and RMC Découverte HD, were originally launched on December 25, 2012 and are available to around 25% of population in mainland France.
The new transmitters in the Pays de la Loire and Bretagne are part of the rollout plan of the new channels, as published by French regulator CSA.
The rollout will take place in 13 phases and will be completed in June 2015, when 97% of the population will be able to receive the new HD channels.
The six HD channels are also available on the various cable and IPTV platforms as well as on Eutelsat’s Fransat bouquet. Canal’s TNTSat platform only carries four of the six channels due to a dispute over carriage fees.
