Canal Digital has maintained its hold on SBS content with a new three-year deal for exclusive rights to SBS’s satellite TV channels in the Nordic countries.
The agreement covers Norway: TVNorge, FEM, MAX and VOX, Sweden: Kanal 5 and Kanal 9, Denmark: Kanal 4, Kanal 5, 6’eren and 7’eren and Finland: TV5 and Kutonen.
SBS content will also be available on demand through catch-up and archive services.
“SBS’s channels give our customers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland access to a varied menu of excellent content. Canal Digital satellite TV and SBS have enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership, which will now be continued. This provides a stabile framework for both parties,” says Patrik Hofbauer, CEO of Canal Digital AS.
“It is a strategic contract solidifying our partnership of many years. The deal also allows us to distribute our content via new platforms, providing a firm basis for further growth,” added Henrik Ravn, CEO of SBS Nordic Broadcasting.
As part of the agreement Telenor Sweden also be able to distribute Kanal 5 and Kanal 9 on stadsnät (“city net”) in Sweden.
